Forged and Welded Sandhill Crane

Saturday and Sunday, January 25th and 26th (Morning and Afternoon Groups)

FORGED/WELDED: SANDHILL CRANE in Collaboration with Santa Fe College (You must register through Santa Fe's Community Education program. The cost is $175- all materials and safety gear included.)

Dive into the world of metal with this multi‑process class. Day one entails a  visit to Leslie Tharp's blacksmithing shop for a crash course into forging fundamentals. Learn to hammer hot steel on an anvil while texturing and  forming the parts needed to create your sculptural Sandhill Crane.

On day two, we meet at Santa Fe's welding shop to attach our forged pieces and create the finished crane. During our time at Santa Fe, we'll work on using MIG welding techniques. This style of welding is accessible and useful for both hobbyists and professionals and is designed to introduce beginners into the multi‑process world of metalwork.
